Jo Ann Carr

September 03, 1926 ‒ August 19, 2016

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Jo Ann Carr, age 89, of Mount Gilead passed away Friday August 19, 2016 at Bennington Glen Care Center.

She was born Friday September 3, 1926 in Columbus to the late Charles C. and Margaret (Stith) Ryan.

She was a 1944 graduate of Grandview High School.  In 1951 she met a handsome young man named Clifford Carr.  After only a very short time of courting they were married in May 1951. Together they raised 7 children.  She would cook breakfast for the family and have it ready for when Clifford came home from work.  Clifford and Jo Ann enjoyed nearly 49 years of marriage before he went on to prepare their heavenly home in May 2000.

Jo Ann was a customer service representative for CMart and later was the manager of the snack bar at Whetstone Bowling Alley in Edison.  Even with all the hard work Jo Ann still had amazing hands.  It did not go unnoticed as she became a hand model for a retail chain.  She would model jewelry and other items designed for hands.

She was a member of the Job’s Daughters and Seniors on Center.  In her down time Jo Ann enjoyed trying her hand at Euchre and Rummy, although sometimes she let the game get away from her, it didn’t matter.  She loved to laugh and have a good time.  There were also several memories made when traveling to Colorado, Florida, and New York.

Above all Jo Ann loved her family.  Any time spent with her children and grandchildren was cherished.  She truly loved making many lasting memories.

Jo Ann will be dearly missed by her children Dan (Vicky) Carr, Jeffrey (Michelle Hoy) Carr, Cindy Ann (Ed) Kline, Terry (John) Seitz, Peggy (Jake) Brey, Lori Huff, Judy Fernberg;  brother Charles “Kip” (Rheta) Ryan, 17 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

She was met at heavens gates by her loving husband, her parents, and son James Carr.

Jo Ann’s family will greet friends Wednesday August 24th from 5pm to 6pm  at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel 67 North Main Street, Mount Gilead where services celebrating her life will follow with Celebrant Mark Schuring  officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Jo Ann to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Ohio.
