Jewel M. Payne, 68, of Galion passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at home after a brief illness.

Born May 3, 1949 in Galion, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Margaret (Lauer) Bowen. She married LeRoy Payne, Jr. on May 3, 1968 and he survives.

She was a graduate of Galion High School in 1967 and was a homemaker. Jewel was a member of the Windfall Emanuel Church of Christ in Galion, collected Longaberger baskets, enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with her granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Laurie (Michael) Richart of Galion; granddaughter, Madison Richart of Galion and two sisters, Sarah Payne of Galion and Charlene Bowen of Mansfield.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Jason Payne.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. May 17 with Revs. Lloyd and Dreama Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Life Line of Ohio in care of the funeral home.
