Jessica Kanady

January 15, 1980 ‒ October 18, 2018

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Martin Luther King Jr. once said that one of life’s most important questions was “What are you doing for others?” Jessica Ann Kanady took that question to heart and lived a life of service.

After a brief, but courageous battle with cancer; Jessica passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at OhioHealth Mansfield. She was 38.

Born January 15, 1980 to parents Terry Banks & Dolly (Hasenzahl) Daugherty in Mansfield, Jessica was the second of three children.  She attended Lucas and Pioneer, graduating from Lucas High School with the class of 1999.

Jessica’s one true love in life was her precious son Ethan Brady, who was born in June of 2006.  She dedicated her life to him and will be remembered by those who loved her as a wonderful mother.  Jessi was a very active member of Woodville Grace Brethren Church and worked as a homemaker.

Jessi was born with a true servant’s heart.  She loved people and animals and as such spent most of her free time helping others. She spent many hours volunteering at STOP as well as working in the food pantry at her church.  Jessi was always the first to lend a helping hand and will be missed by many.

She is survived by son Ethan Kanady; parents Terry Banks (Greg Finnegan) and Dolly Daugherty (James); sister Jennifer Morris (Dominic) and their children Zachary, Noelle, Kaitlyn and Tony; brother Jason Banks and his children Jagger and Layla; as well as good friends Rose Bevelle and Sherry Spellman-Moran.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Paul and Mary Hasenzahl, paternal grandmother Martha Banks, and uncle Scott Banks.

Jessica’s family will receive friends Monday, October 22, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home (350 Marion Avenue). A memorial service will be held Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor Gene Witzky will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

  • We’re both so very sorry for the loss you’re all experiencing right now. Jessi was precious and I ‘m so glad I got to spend time with her before she left this world. Her life cut way too short and her suffering so hard to understand…I can only imagine how wonderful it must now be to have perfect healing and perfect Peace!!
She was so brave! She didn’t fear death. She just couldn’t stand the thought of leaving you, Ethan. She loved you more than you could ever imagine. She holds a special place in my heart and I’ll miss her right along with everyone else. God is in control and I am so grateful He was swift in regards to her suffering.
