BUTLER- Jesse T. Mickley, 81, of Butler passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in The Ohio State University Medical Center following an extended illness.
The son of Edward and Hilda (Gardner) Mickley, Jesse was born October 6, 1930. He graduated from Danville High School where he excelled as an athlete playing baseball, basketball and football. Following high school, Jesse graduated from the College of Wooster.
For over 30 years Jesse was the face of Richland Bank in Butler, retiring as Vice President.
Giving back to his community, Jesse volunteered his time as a little league coach.
If there was an open table around his house, Jesse was sitting, playing cards with family and friends. He loved the outdoors, especially mushroom hunting. For 25 plus years Jesse would mushroom hunt in Michigan. Active into his later years, Jesse would set off on a hike just about every Sunday.
He is survived by his sons Jeffrey and Andrew Mickley both of Butler, daughters and sons-in-law Janet and Brent Mellott and Joy and Cary Stover all of Butler; grandchildren Jessica and Jared Mellott, Katie Mickley, and Megan and Shelby Stover; two great granddaughters Lacey Vidonish and Baylee Newton; siblings and their spouses Donnie and Lynn Mickley, Kenneth and Naomi Mickley, Dorothy Colopy, Irene Williams, Robert Mickley, Floyd Mickley, and Mary Louise Boeshart; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Edith Mickley in 1998; siblings John and Edward Mickley, Joyce Summers and Paul and Joseph Mickley.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where his funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Michael V. Stine will officiate. Burial will follow in Bunkerhill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to Worthington Township-Butler Rescue Squad or the Butler-Clear Fork Nutrition Center may be made through the funeral home.
