Jerry Wilson, age 73, of Mount Vernon, died Thursday May 16, 2002 at the Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. Jerry was born May 15, 1929 in Mount Vernon to William Burgess “Bud” Wilson and Fena Grace (Schimp) Wilson. He was raised and had spent most of his lifetime in California moving back to Knox County in 1991. He had worked for 44 years for NAPA Auto Parts in California retiring in 1991. Jerry served with the U S Army during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife Sydney “Joanne” (Sword) Wilson whom he married Feb. 5, 1981, his daughter Mary Jane (Bruce) Burkhalter of Las Vegas, Nevada; 2 step daughters Amy Lee (Jim) Chilton of Fairbanks, Alaska and Victoria Ruth (Donald) Marvin of Mount Vernon; a step son James Mason (Diana) Hollingsworth of North Richland Hills, Texas; 2 grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother Robert Wilson.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where funeral services will be Saturday at 11 AM with Rev. Kevin Rees officiating. Burial with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
