MOUNT VERNON: Jerry Reese Walker of Mt.

Vernon passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at

Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus

following a long illness. He was 77.

Jerry was born in Bellville on July

14, 1934 to parents Dale L. and Mary (Sapp)

Walker. He was graduated from Bellville High

School in 1952 and immediately took a job

with General Motors as a tool and dye maker.

He took pride in his work and retired from GM

after 35 years of service in 1986.

On October 29, 1978, Jerry married

Ruth A. Lamneck. He worked hard to provide

for the family he loved so dearly.

Jerry was a member of the Mt. Vernon

Radio Club, the Masonic Lodge, and UAW 549.

He was a loyal Cleveland Indians

baseball fan all his life and cheered on his

Tribe through the good and the bad. He will

be remembered as an inspiring Little League

coach in Fredericktown. In his spare time he

enjoyed being a HAM Radio operator but above

all he made watching his cherished

grandchildren play sports his number one

priority.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife

of 33 years; children Valerie & Bill Bihary

of Pensacola, FL, Rande Behaler of

Fredericktown, Christopher Reese Walker of

Mansfield, Cynthia Miller of Mansfield,

Constance & Jim Edick of Bladensburg, and Dr.

James & Beckie Swetlic of Mt. Vernon; ten

grandchildren Jason, Biffany, Lucas, Alex,

Matt, Chris, Jerrad, Michelle, Summer, and

Dylan; six great-grandchildren; siblings

Sandra & Robert Stewart of Kalamazoo, MI, Dr.

Steven & Marilyn Walker of Lexington, and Dr.

Bradley & Becky Walker of Bellville.

He was preceded in death by his

parents.

Jerry’s family will receive friends

from 11am-1pm on Friday, September 2, 2011 at

the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home (81 Mill

Rd) where the funeral service will

immediately follow at 1pm. Pastor Russ Gumm

will officiate and burial will be in

Bellville Cemetery.
