Jeffrey J. “Jeff” Morris

March 10, 1957 ‒ May 03, 2016

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Jeffrey J. “Jeff” Morris, age 59, of Mount Gilead, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 3, 2016, at his residence following a six year battle with cancer.

On March 10, 1957, Jeff was born in Galion, OH, the son of the late John and Wilma (Reeks) Morris.  He graduated from Galion High School in the Class of 1975.

Upon completing high school, Jeff enlisted in the United States Army.  He was part of the 82nd Airborne Division.  He was extremely honored to have served his country and was very proud of the United States flag.  He was a life member of AmVets Polk Twp. Post # 1979 in Galion.

On January 16, 1998, Jeff married the love of his life, Cynthia Lee Neal, on a snowy evening in Galion.  They lovingly shared the last 18 years together as husband and wife.

Jeff loved to be outdoors whenever he could, mowing the lawn, tending to his vegetable garden and fishing.

Jeff was a “point blank” man.  He had his opinions and he did not care what you thought of them.  He had a gruff exterior, but was a good, caring man once you got to know him.  He was generous to a fault and would help others however he could.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Cindy, of Mount Gilead; three sons: Sean, Dustin, and Joshua Morris; three grandchildren; a brother, Jerry; two sisters, Janet and Joyce; nieces Tiffany and Samantha; and a great nephew, Shaye.  He is also survived by a niece, Allison (Jared) Cooper of Newfane, NY; nephew, Jameson (Tiphanie) Bond of Mansfield; great nephew, Gabriel Cooper; great niece, Sydney Bond; sister-in-law, Julie (Ramon) Abreu-Bond of Crestline; and his family of friends and neighbors at Candlewood Lake.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Rather than flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Morrow County, 228 South St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338, or to his family to assist with final expenses, and those may be sent in care of Snyder Funeral Home, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338.
