Sunbury, Ohio

Jeffrey Dale Wilson, of Sunbury went to the arms of Jesus on Friday, June 8, 2018 after a 17-month battle with Glioblastoma.  He was 54 years old.

He is survived by his wife, and Northridge High School Sweetheart, Marla, as well as their daughter Krystina (Matt) Fahey and son Daniel, his mother, Roberta Wilson, and sister Kim (Sam) Watton.  Preceded in death by his father Dale C. Wilson.

Jeff was an active member of the Sunbury, Ohio community for 31 years. He served for 30 years on the B.S.T.&G. Fire Department, starting as a volunteer Fire Fighter and retiring on January 31, 2018 after serving 6 years as Chief.  He was a member of the Sunbury United Methodist Church, and he found one of his greatest passions in helping with the annual Youth Work Mission Trip.  If he wasn’t working with the Church or out on a fire run, you could find him either on a sailboat at Alum Creek or spending time with his family.  He will be greatly missed by many.

  • Marla, I will be out of town for work and will be unable to pay my respects to Jeff during the calling hours, so I wanted to pay my respects here. I cannot imagine what you are feeling. You and Jeff were (are) such great role models for everyone. Pillars of strength, love, and faith. That is what will help you through this difficult time. We have known each other since childhood, and while we have had separate paths in adulthood, my fond memories of us never left. Sending you virtual hugs and love and will continue to pray for healing of your heart, and the strength to continue to move forward each day in spite of your loss.

  • Marla, Kristi and Danny,

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to you, your family and Jeff’s many friends. Having worked a youth mission trip with Jeff it was amazing to watch him teach the youth and newbie volunteers. He always had a smile and most times it appeared to be a mischievous one. Danny, you are a shining example of your Dad as we watched you teach the youth just like your Dad. May your memories bring you comfort and the love of family and friends surround you as Jesus holds each of you in his arms.

Much love- Dan and Cindy Noel

I am so saddened to hear of Jeff’s passing. I do hope that loving memories of Jeff will carry you and your family forward as you adjust to life without him. I’m sure you must realize that he is in “another room” (so to speak) in this vast universe, finally free from the confinements of his physical body.
