LEXINGTON: Jeanette Wirick, 91, of Delaware Street, Lexington, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, April 14, 2002, following a short illness.
She was born October 24, 1910 in Lexington to John I. and Ethel V. (Donnan) Wirick, and was graduated from Lexington High School in 1928.
A lifelong resident of Lexington, she was dietician/manager of Lexington Local Schools Cafeteria for 41 years, a homemaker, and a devoted wife and mother.
Jeanette was a member of the First Congregational Church of Lexington, where she had served as deaconess and church secretary/treasurer.
She was a member of the Bellville Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and as a cancer survivor of over 40 years, she was a member of the Ostomy Society.
Jeanette enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and cooking for her family and friends.
Jeanette’s life reflected a very caring lady who was loved by all who knew her. She untiringly gave of herself over and over, never asking for anything in return. She was a wonderful example of love and commitment to her family, friends and yes, her acquaintances; as she continued to serve others through her kindness and her love.
Since a bad fall in 1996, she had many struggles, but through her determination to be the best she could, and her love for all, she was the example of a Godly woman
She is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law Gene and Pat Wirick, Larry and Edna Wirick and Beverly Wirick all of Lexington; eleven grandchildren and their spouses Dave and Vicki Wirick, Brett and Kathy Wirick all of Lexington, Rick and Deborah Wirick of Los Angeles, California, Jane and Paul Drake of Richardson, Texas, Jennifer and John Breitinger of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Katherine and David Kurtz of New Washington, Karl and Lori Kent of Heath, Cara and Dr. Steve Calendine of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lt. Jeff and Stephanie Wirick of Dayton, Tennessee, Jodi and Jerry Dooley of Ripley, West Virginia, and Jon and Jennifer Wirick of Grove City; 22 great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law Lucille Adams of Galion and Helen and Richard Snyder of Fredericktown; two brothers and sisters-in-law Dale and Ruth Wirick and John and Janet Wirick all of Mansfield; and two sisters-in-law Wanda Wirick of Bellville and Edythe Capron of Vero Beach, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Chester M. Wirick on March 22, 1970; a son Duane Wirick on March 17, 1996; a grandson Doug Wirick on March 14, 1964; a great grandson Adam Wirick on May 22, 1989; two brothers Richard Wirick and Carl Wirick; and a brother-in-law Marvin Adams.
Friends may call Wednesday, April 17, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 am. Pastor David Smith and Dr. Donald Rinehart will officiate. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
