Jeanette Kathleen (Piper) Greene

March 29, 1954 ‒ June 26, 2017

Sunbury, Ohio

Jeanette Kathleen Piper Greene, 63, of Sunbury, Ohio, passed away at St. Ann’s Hospital following a sudden illness on June 26, 2017.  She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on March 29, 1954, the daughter of Gene and Rachel Piper of Sunbury.

An honors graduate of Big Walnut High School and The Ohio State University, Jeanette was an Information Records Analyst at Ross Laboratories/Abbott Nutrition for 37 years.  Prior to Ross/Abbott, she worked at public libraries in Grandview Heights and Westerville.

Jeanette attended Sunbury Church of the Nazarene and Van’s Valley Community Church.  She loved gardening, cooking, her family, and her cats.  Although Jeanette was not blessed with children of her own, she loved being the “adoring aunt” to her nieces and nephews.

Once, when asked to describe herself in two words, Jeanette said, “Hard working,” and that certainly was true.  Jeanette was always characterized by her steadfast faith and a strong work ethic.  She was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, coworker, and friend, exceeding expectations in all of those roles.  And she did it with grace, a quiet dignity, and a sweet smile.  One former coworker commented, “She was the most loving, caring, helpful person, and her warm smile is burned into my memory.”

In addition to her parents, Jeanette is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, George, along with brothers Larry (Debra) Piper of New Albany and Jeff (Brenda) Piper of Sunbury, brother-in-law Garland (Elizabeth) Greene of Ashland, Kentucky, sister-in-law Sonja Greene of Danleyton, Kentucky, and several beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Belva Greene of Ashland, Kentucky, and brother-in-law Larry Greene of Danleyton, Kentucky.

Friends may call on the family on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 5-8 PM at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074 and again on Friday, from 1 PM until the start of the service at 2 PM.  Burial will follow at Fancher Cemetery in Harlem Township.

The DeVore-Snyder of Sunbury is honored to serve Jeanette’s family.  Special memories and condolences can be expressed to them at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com
