Jean M. Hemsworth, age 69 of Delaware died at home early Wednesday morning, April 30, 2008.

She was born on March 28, 1939 in Delaware to the late John M. and Helen (McClain) Hillard. A graduate of Elm Valley High School in 1958, she had been a lifelong resident of Delaware County. Jean retired from the former Ranco Company, where she worked on the assembly line. She also had worked in the cafeterias of Grady Memorial Hospital and several Delaware City Schools.

Always willing to help anyone in need, she loved her pets and flower gardens and was a member of the Delaware Flower Club. She endeared animals, gospel music, and liked to have fun.

Preceded in death by her husband of 33 years: Jack D. Hemsworth on August 13, 2007, Son Wayne A. Byus in 2004, sister Janice Litter, brother Gerald Hillard, step-mother Darlene Hillard, niece Sherrie Painter, grandparents Ed and Agnes Pinyerd.

She is survived by son Robert W. Byus of Powell, Grandchildren; Sheena and Jennifer Byus, sisters Jane (Cecil) Albery of Queen Valley, AZ, who cared for her, Barb Opel of Delaware, brothers Larry (Pam) Hillard of DeSoto, MO, Charles Hillard of Blacklick, Sister-in-law: Claire Hillard of North Carolina, Step-sister: Vonna (Marvin) Hughes of Delaware, Aunt: Pearl Neff of Delaware, several nieces and nephews including; Cindy (Joel) Vail of Delaware, Debbie Hunt of Corbin, Kentucky, Kathy Payne of Chillicothe, and many special friends.

Public inurnment services will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware with hospice chaplain Rev. Patricia Ann Stout officiating. Friends and family will be received immediately following the graveside services at 1395 SR 257 South in Warrensburg. DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware is honored to serve the family of Jean Hemsworth and calling hours will not be observed.
