Jean Helen Garrison Merriman

Jean Helen Garrison Merriman passed away on Sunday, June 22_ at her residence in Delaware , Ohio from a stubborn battle with Cancer.

She was born, April 17 1936 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was an active Disaster Service volunteer including a term of service at Ground Zero during 9/11. She also did several Disaster Response terms for many other disasters in the United States.

Jean was a loving housewife and mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, knitting and being around those who made her laugh. Jean enjoyed life and fought hard to hold onto it.

She is survived by her husband of 49 ½ years –Richard Merriman. Children, Ken and Maggie Garrison of Delaware, Gay and Ronald O’Harra of Delaware, Ray Merriman and Kathy Mollett of Columbus, and Beckie and David Fields of Radnor; She is survived by 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. Bother in law – Bud and Beverly Merriman.

Preceded by her parents Kenneth and LeOtis Arnold and a daughter Cynthia Botts


Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street, Delaware. Where Prayer Services will be held at 8 p.m.Memorial Mass will be held Thursday 2 St Mary Catholic Church with Fr. James Black celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery. Reception to follow at place of residence.

The family suggests donations can be mafe to Grady Memorial Foundation care of Outpatient Chemotherapy Services , or Home Reach Hospice of Delaware. You may also give to your personal charity in the Jean’s name.

The immediate family would like to personally thank Dr. Schissel, Dr. Moore and the staff on the 4th floor who kept Jean laughing and filled with hope. We would also like to thank the staff of Home Reach Hospice who kept her comfortable.
