Jean Anne Herbert Pigg, 86, of Oakleaf Village Assisted Living Center, in Columbus, Ohio, died April 18, 2012 in the Palliative Care Unit of Mount Carmel St Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio. A lifelong resident of Ohio, Jean Anne was born April 12, 1926 at Jane Case Hospital in Delaware, Ohio to William Broaddus and Helen McDowell Yaple Herbert of Route 203, near Radnor, Ohio. She graduated from Radnor High School, Radnor, Ohio in 1944. She received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Home Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio in 1948 and a Vocational Certificate in Home Economics Education from The Ohio State University in 1950. She taught Home Economics at Richwood High School, Richwood, Ohio in 1950-1951, and the Salem Schools, Kingscreek, Ohio in 1951-2. She married George Thomas Pigg on February 3, 1951 at Radnor Congregational Church, Radnor, Ohio. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Delaware, Ohio, and the George Behrens Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Jean Anne will be fondly remembered as a wonderful mother and friend and for her love of nature, gardening and birds. She was preceded in death by her parents Helen & William Herbert, her sister Marjorie Freeman and a brother William Glenn Herbert, and her husband George in 1982. She is survived by a son, David William (Pigg) Anderson and his wife Dorothy of Denison, Texas, and two daughters, Kathleen Belle Pigg, of Tempe, Arizona and Laura Jean (Pigg) Thomas of Columbus, Ohio. The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Oakleaf Village and Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital for their thoughtful kindness and care of our loved one. Friends may call today (Thursday, April 19th ) from 6 – 8 pm at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William Street at Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio with the funeral service Friday April 20th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Radnor Cemetery.
