Janice R. Tripp
January 13, 1962 ‒ June 18, 2006
Janice R. Tripp, age 44, of Marion, died unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, June 18, 2006, of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident at St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver, Colorado while on vacation with her husband, Dan.
She was born in Toledo, Ohio, on January 13, 1962, the daughter of the late Stanley and June (Porter) Statts, who moved their family to Marion when she was 5 years of age; where she resided the remainder of her life.
Jan was a graduate of Marion Harding High School in the Class of 1980, and attended the Mansfield Business College.
On September 18, 1982, Janice married her loving husband of almost 24 years, Danial L. Tripp, who survives in Marion. Together they were passionate about traveling, visiting every state except for Alaska. Janice was more than just a wife to Dan; she was his friend and confidant.
For 21 years, Janice worked for the State of Ohio in the Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections and for the past 2 years for the Marion Juvenile Center Department of Youth Services, as their personnel director. Janice was very well thought of by her employees and around the state.
A woman of faith, Janice rarely went anywhere without her bible in hand. Also, held dear to her heart was her family, and she was a very devoted wife and mother. Jan greatly enjoyed watching her son play football, making crafts, and cooking.
Along the way, Jan participated in many school functions and was a Cub Scout den mother, football mom, football mom director, and secretary for the Ohio Northern Football Parents. She served as chair and served in many other capacities for charities and was recently appointed to the Marion County Children’s Services Board. She was also a bookkeeper and chief cheerleader for her husband Dan’s business interests, the position where she will be missed the most.
Janice will be remembered for her positive outlook on life; she was the type of person who when she woke up and said good morning, she truly meant it. She was a wonderful role model to her family and to anyone she met.
In addition to her husband, Jan will be missed by her son Daniel Tripp of Marion; sisters Emma Cox, Linda (Don) Tefft, Becky (Paul) Simon, Cindy (Les) Giese, and Lela (Jeremy) Rhinehart; a brother Tom (Christen) Statts; and by many, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Sue Chapman.
The family will greet friends on Friday from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Richland Road Church of Christ, 525 Richland Road, Marion, with Minister Russell Howard officiating.
