Janice M. Britt, 82, of Galion passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Signature HealthCARE of Galion.

She was born November 9, 1935 in Galion and was the daughter of Vern and Gladys (Levings) Carpenter. On November 7, 1953 she married Gary T. Britt and they were married nearly 54 years until his passing on November 5, 2007.

Janice was a 1953 graduate of Galion High School and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion. She enjoyed ceramics and crocheting and spending time with her family.

Janice is survived by son Mark (Patricia Beck) Britt; daughter Renea (Steven) Kennedy all of Galion; two grandsons Shawn (Jodi) Britt of Galion and Kevin (Sophia) Britt of Oregon; five great-grandchildren Courtney, Brandon, Dylan, Talon and Tianna Britt; brother Richard (Chris) Carpenter of Galion and a sister-in-law Ruth Ann Carpenter of Galion and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son Brian Britt; grandson Zachary Payne and a brother William Carpenter.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2018 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 with Father Paul Fahrbach officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation in care of the funeral home.

  • Janice was so much fun. I would see her every year at Signature when we (The Flower Cart) would do mugs for “Make someone smile week”. The Britt family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

  • Janice was so much fun to work for. She was always laughing or smiling. I remember the fun times we had at Uncle Vern and Aunt Gladys’s house. She used to love to come to the Moose and dance and hear The Bullit Band. May she rest in peace. Thinking of all of the family.

    Now to talk about your Mom and her spirit!! She had me laughing so my sides hurt every time I saw her! Also every time Renea would leave I would give her a kiss on the cheek and she would say “THANK YOU!!” That always made me feel good. A lovely woman indeed!!
