Janice L. Mayes Pierson of North Kingstown, RI formerly of Delaware passed away peacefully Saturday, May 11, 2013 in Providence, RI.

Born in Delaware on March 19, 1938 to Ray Mayes and Icie Curtis, she spent most of her life in Delaware however during her life’s journey she had resided in California, Florida and most recently Rhode Island. A graduate of Willis High School in 1956, she enjoyed family, friends, cooking, playing bingo and quilting. Loving and a care giver by nature, she was passionate and strong willed.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, David, two sons, Kenneth (Kim) Radcliff, Donald Jones, Jr., daughter Sheila (William) Yehle, two step-sons, Randy (Teri) Pierson, David (Ramona) Pierson, step daughter Dawn Connell, 12 grandchildren including Matthew Ellis whom she raised as her own son, Donnie, April, Hank and Tabitha Radcliff, Amanda and Chad Watkins, Nicki, Leila and Misty Jones, Tiffany Stewart and Chris Wirick,19 great-children, a sister Betty (Bill) Cantrell, and a brother Eddie (Norma) Mayes.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her previous husband of 35 years Donald Jones, Sr., a daughter Teresa Ellis, two sisters Mildred Wheeland, Dolly Ruth Mayes, and a brother Darrel Mayes.

Friends may call Thursday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at which time services will follow at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Dr., Delaware with Celebrant Don Lockwood officiating. Burial will follow in Oller Cemetery.
