Janet L. Ashcraft, age 81, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Brookdale Mount Vernon. She was born on March 18, 1937 in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

Janet retired in 1990 from Kmart in Mount Vernon and was a member of the Liberty Chapel Methodist Church.  In her younger years she enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, bowling and crocheting.  Janet also loved to camp and liked the quality time it provided for the family to be together.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Rick (Judy) Ashcraft of Fredericktown and Ron (Charlotte) Ashcraft of Glenford, Ohio; three grandchildren, Curtis Ashcraft, Matthew (Candace) Ashcraft and Kenneth Ashcraft.

Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years Kenneth Paul Ashcraft (1999), her mother Mildred (Hawk) Mohr and adopted parents, Dwight and Grace Hyatt.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday beginning at 11 a.m.  Rev. Thom Fowler will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Janet’s name may be made to the Liberty Chapel Methodist Church or Kindred Hospice.
