Janet G. “Jan” Vining, age 75 of Delaware passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Kobacker House surrounded by her family.

She was born in Charleston, West Virginia on July 28, 1938 to the late Raymond L. and Violet M. (Owens) Hickey. A graduate of Worthington High School in 1957, she then attended Columbus College of Art and Design and The Ohio State University.

Jan worked first as the manager of the house keeping department for the Holiday Inn of Delaware and later served as General Manager. She then worked on the e-coat line for Honda of American, retiring in 2001.

A member of the Delaware Red Hat Society and the Red Cross, she was also a board member for Delaware Senior Citizens and served as Secretary. She collected crystal, bells, and friends. Socializing was a favorite pass time as any visit turned into a friendship. She was strong, positive and inspired others.

She enjoyed a passion for arts and crafts and was skilled in various mediums, including origami, acrylic and fabric arts. With determination, she was good at whatever she put her mind to. She also enjoyed traveling and would go at any opportunity, Greece being her favorite destination.

Giving in every way, she loved unconditionally. Proud of her children, she was at her best spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 30 years Vic Vining, children Blandy Taylor (Paul Mathews) of Sunbury, Zindy Taylor (Herb Hoover) of Delaware, T.R. (Rachel) Taylor of Woodland Park, CO, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Dr., Delaware, where services will follow 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.
