Janet Eileen (Lingrel) Davis, 68, of Mount Gilead, died Thursday night June 1, 2006 at The Ohio State University Medical Center East Hospital after several months of heart trouble.
She was born on December 30, 1937 in Marion County the daughter of the late William R. Lingrel and Janie A. (Miller) Lingrel-Davis. A lifelong area resident Janet grew up in Marion County graduating from Harding High School in the class of 1955. On December 7, 1963 she married Dan Ellis Davis. As a homemaker she took great pride in her home and their children. She later drove school bus for Mount Gilead schools. Janet was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church in Marengo where she was involved in the food pantry and children’s church. Before she became ill Janet was the President of the Crippled Children and Adults of Morrow County. She enjoyed crafting; working with wood and painting. On her computer she would “chat“ with people from all over the world; often arranging for a bible to be shipped to someone in need. She was known to have a great singing voice having sung at weddings and even on the radio on WMRN in the 50’s. Her grandchildren always enjoyed going to her home where she would often cook something delicious for them. Janet will be remembered as a strong willed family woman who would do anything for anybody.
She will be missed by her two daughters; Deborah (Ted) Murphy of North Lewisburg and Constance (Todd) Jensen of Elgin, Illinois, four grandchildren; Davis, Halley, Zakary, and Jonathan, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband on June 25, 1999, their daughter Leslie K. Davis on November 9, 1964, three brothers; Dale, William, and Richard Lingrel, and five sisters; Wilma Berringer, Annie Dillinger, Violet Lust, Virginia Lingrel, and Beulah Camm.
Friends may call on the family on Sunday June 4, 2006 from 2-5 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main Street, Mount Gilead. Pastor Ethan Daves will conduct services their on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Waldo Cemetery.
