PERRYSVILLE: Janet E. Bittinger passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019 in Smithville Western Care, Wooster surrounded by her family. She was 78.

She was born November 21, 1941 to parents Isaac & Electa (Easterday) Shotts in Dayton, Ohio, and she graduated from Perrysville High School with the class of 1959.

On August 22, 1964, she married William Bittinger and they spent 39 wonderful years together until he passed away in 2004.

Janet began volunteering as a teacher’s aide for Perrysville Elementary School in 1976, and retired in 2004 after 28 years of service. She truly enjoyed working with and helping all the children she came in contact with throughout the years.

She was also a long-time member of the Perrysville Baptist Church, where she began her personal relationship with Jesus and was baptized on May 12, 1963. Janet enjoyed solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and most of all supporting her grandkids in all of their activities.

She is survived by her daughters Shari (Tom) Hoeflich of Butler, Shelley (Greg) Sulser of Perrysville, and Stacey (Tim) Bittinger of Wooster; grandchildren Kylie (Nick) Knipp, Trey Trumpower, Arik and Caulin Sulser, and Reece Hoeflich; great-grandchild Isaiah Knipp; sisters Sally (Marty) Snow and Cindy (Mike) Williams both of Perrysville, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Judy Grosenbacher; and her nephew “Little” Jimmy.

Janet’s family will receive friends Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home- Lindsey Chapel. A funeral service honoring Janet’s life will be held Thursday December 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. Pastor Howard Burnett will speak. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery-Perrysville.

Contributions in Janet’s memory to Life Care Hospice may be made at the funeral home.
