MANSFIELD: Janet Donnelly Maikis, 74, of Whippoorwill Lane, Mansfield, died in her home following a sudden illness.

She was born August 25, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York to Charles A. and M. Beatrice McGrath Donnelly. She was graduated from St. Saviour’s Academy and earned her BA from St. John’s University in New York in 1951.

On September 6, 1952 she married Robert Allen Maikis, who preceded her in death on February 19, 2001.

A longtime resident of Hillsdale, New Jersey, Mrs. Maikis was a homemaker and avid bridge player, who loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She moved to Ohio nine years ago, and to Mansfield two years ago from Mount Vernon.

She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law Susan and Dr. Mark Hans of Berea, Carolyn and David Carto of Mansfield and Priscilla and R.R. Cionni, Jr. of Mesa, Arizona; her son and daughter-in-law Robert C. and Lori Maikis of Wantage, New Jersey; eleven grandchildren; a sister Mrs. John Wise of Maryland; a niece and two nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at 10 am in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Mansfield. The family will receive friends at the church the half hour prior to the Mass. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is serving the family.
