MANSFIELD: Jane was born on May 19, 1914 at home in Mansfield, Ohio to Detroit Hiner Parr and Erma Mae Crum Parr. She had four siblings.

While working at Heilman’s grocery store she met Kenneth Heilman, their nephew, from Cleveland Ohio. They married and moved to Cleveland. They had a daughter Beverly.  Jane moved back to Mansfield around 1947. She married Bill Harper in 1953.

She worked at Farmer’s Bank for six years and was one of the first women tellers. She then worked for Colby Earick Auto Sales and eventually retired from Charles Hoffman Plumbing Company.

Her joy was becoming a grandma to David, Michael, Marcia, Karen and Jill.

Jane was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) which she enjoyed very much, Mansfield Federation of Women’s Club where she loved to play bridge, the Ohio Genealogy Society and she was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church. Jane loved to cheer for the Cleveland Indians.

Jane is survived by her daughter Beverly Snavely-Cole and her husband Harry, her five grandchildren David (Georgiana) Snavely, Michael Snavely, Marcia Snavely, Karen Snavely and Jill (Ron) Boccio and her four great-grandchildren Ben and Andrew Snavely, and Mia and Ava Boccio. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn Dinges and numerous nieces and nephews. She was loved by everyone.

Jane lived at Primrose for over four years and made many friends while living there.

In May of 2014 a big 100th birthday party was held for Jane at the home of Harry and Bev Cole and over 100 people attended.

Preceding Jane in death were her parents, along with Kenneth Heilman and Bill Harper, brothers Harry (Georgia) and Robert (Dorothy) Parr, sister Leoma Princehorn and son-in-law Roger Snavely

Calling hours will be Friday, March 11th, from 11 am to 2 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where her funeral will be at 2 p.m.  Pastor Greg Bibler will perform the services.  Graveside services will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Jared Mansfield Chapter of DAR or the First Christian Church may be made through the funeral home.

  • Your mother was such a lovely lady. We always enjoying seeing her in church. Even when she was unable to attend, she was still a wonderful Christian witness. Our grandchildren were a part of the carolers who caroled her each Christmas. They loved her joy and enthusiasm for life. We will all miss her.
