Jane McCartney, 88, of 799 Boyd Blvd., Galion, died Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Galion Community Hospital after a short illness.
Born March 23, 1917 in Galion, she was the daughter of the late Dan Dougherty and Esther Dietsch Dougherty. She was preceded in death on November 12, 1989 by her husband, Robert C. McCartney whom she married on December 29, 1951.
She was a graduate of Galion High School in 1934. She is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society at church. She was former president of Galion Business and Professional Womens Club, financial secretary of Catholic Ladies of Columbia and treasurer of Tops Inc. She retired from Urban Industries in Galion in 1980.
She is survived by a son, Tim McCartney of Galion; a sister, Joan Bradner of Toledo and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steven McCartney and two sisters, June Jones and Jean Hook.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2006 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. February 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Very Reverend Michael Schelling, Pastor/Dean officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
A Vigil Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday during calling hours with Deacon Greg Kirk officiating.
