James W. Wolfe, age 85, of Mount Vernon, died Sunday January 10, 2010 at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon following a brief illness. James was born August 4, 1924 in Perry County, Ohio to Wilfred and Elsie (Dietrick) Wolfe. He had lived most of his lifetime in the Mount Vernon area and retired from American National Can Company in Mount Vernon.

James served in the United States Marines during World War Two.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon. He was a avid fisherman and loved to fish for Walleye at Lake Erie.

Surviving is his daughter D. Janice (Christopher Cleary) Wolfe of Oakmont, Pennsylvania; a grandson, Christopher Browning of Millvale, Pennsylvania; and a sister, Jenny Renne of California. Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife Joy (Blamer) Wolfe in 1993; his son James B. Wolfe in 1985; and a granddaughter, Mindy Browning in 2002

Friends may call Friday January 29, 2010 from 4pm to 8pm at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home 619 East High Street, Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be Saturday January 30, 2010 at 9:30am at the Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Ave. Mount Vernon, Ohio, with Rev. Mark Wildermuth officiating. Burial with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
