James W. Sedlock, 82 of Delaware, passed away Tuesday morning December 8, 2009 at Countyview Nursing Center, Sunbury.

He was born on November 22, 1927 in Columbus to the late Joseph and Hazel (Michaels) Sedlock. He was a WWII Army Veteran attached to the 82nd Airborne Division. James had lived in the Delaware area since 1976 coming from Columbus where he worked for the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company with 27 years of service. He was a member of St John Neumann Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #14457 and the Men’s Club.

James enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing at Alum Creek and Hoover Reservoir, deer hunting with his son and target shooting.

He is survived by his son: James Steven “Steve” Sedlock of Sunbury; brothers: Joseph of Springhill, Fl., John of Columbus, Paul (Joann) of Columbus, Robert of Rockbridge, George (Paulette) of Delaware; sisters: Anna (William) Martin of Delaware, Shirley Hogan of Brentville, Tn., good friend: Karen Baker; additional family: Richard Miller, Karen Evans, Carolyn Spencer, Susan Dora, Kimberly Miller, Andy Miller, Amber Miller.

Preceded in death by his wife: Betty J. (Frey) Sedlock on February 2001 and they were married 53 years; Marilyn Fowler, Jacqueline Rumery, Michael Miller.

Friends may call Friday from 4-7 p.m., prayer service at 6 p.m., at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 9 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 9633 E. SR 37, Sunbury with Fr. David Sizemore celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Columbus.
