James “Jim” Stephen Jacquemin, 53, of Delaware passed away early Wednesday morning July 27, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side, after a brief struggle with cancer. He was born August 28, 1957 in Hamilton, Ohio to Walter and Catherine (Hogan) Jacquemin. He was a 1975 graduate of Fairfield High School and then of the Lincoln Technical School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was an electrician who had worked for Willamette and the Scott’s Company and has been a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware since 1981. He was a volunteer for the Council for Older Adults and the American Red Cross and a 4H advisor, Boy Scout leader, Little League coach and he also helped rehab houses for Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of the pit crews and a volunteer firefighter at Mid Ohio Raceway. He loved flying with his family at the family airport, “Hogan Field”, in Hamilton, Ohio. He enjoyed rebuilding airplanes and along with his son Stephen, he restored a 1967 Buick Skylark convertible. He was a World War II history enthusiast who enjoyed fishing, traveling, adventures, playing with his grandson and puppies, and spending time with his family. He was the “Go to Guy” and “Handyman”. He is survived by his wife of almost 32 years, Patricia “Trish” (Cast); daughter, Melissa (Jacquemin) Stroupe and her husband Matt; son, Stephen James Jacquemin and his wife Renee (Trentman); grandson, Carson Stroupe and a second grandson due in December; 2 brothers, Walter (Barb) Jacquemin of Alpena, Michigan and John (Dina) Jacquemin of Cincinnati; sister, Karen (Larry) Roberts of Hamilton; numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends; and his canine companions, Choochoo Willy, Boxcar Willy, and Sydney. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother David. The family will receive friends on Monday August 1st from 5 – 8 pm at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, 1510 W. William St., Delaware, and where a vigil of prayer service will be held at 5:00 pm. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday August 2nd at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware with Rev. Fr. James Black officiating. The St. Mary Bereavement Committee will then host a reception in the Rodman Neeper Community Room immediately following the mass.
