James R. “Jim” Daniels

James R. “Jim” Daniels, age 67, of Fredericktown passed away peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born on January 21, 1951 in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late Richard and Sarah (McConnell) Daniels. Jim was raised on his family’s farm in Gambier. He never knew a stranger and was known to have a wonderful laugh.  He was a 1969 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and also graduated from the Clark County Technical College in 1971.  He married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn Hall, on June 4, 1972.  Jim worked in the Dairy Equipment Business for 20 years, Burch Hydro for 16 years, and the Village of Fredericktown for 13 years.

Jim was a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church, Green Valley Tillers Farm Bureau Group, Knox County Fair Board for 28 years, Fredericktown Tomato Show Board, 4-H Advisor for 39 years, Fredericktown Fire Board member, 4-H Planning Committee, Jr. Fair Sales Committee, and the Zoning Appeals Committee for Wayne Township.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathryn (Hall) Daniels; his daughter Mandy (Josh) Havenar; his sons Ryan (Leigh) Daniels, Chet (Emily) Daniels; four grandchildren, Adam Daniels, Logan Daniels, Brayden Havenar, Trevor Havenar; and his sister Helen (Leck) McKee.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown from 4-8PM. A service will be held on Friday, at the Grove Church of Christ (7740 Grove Church Rd. Gambier, Ohio 43022) beginning at 11AM with Rev. Carolyn and Ray Greene officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Gambier.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, the family would appreciate no flowers; however, memorial contributions may be made to: Jim Daniels Family 4-H Scholarship, 4-H Planning Committee, 160 Columbus Rd., P.O. Box 1268, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. Friends and family are also encouraged to bring a John Deere toy tractor which will be donated to Nationwide Children’s Hospital Center for Childhood Cancer in honor of Jim’s buddy Tripp.
