MANSFIELD: James R. “J.R.” Fulton, 77, of Hanley Road, Mansfield, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006 in Knox Community Hospital.

J.R. was born April 24, 1929 in Newark to Joseph Ray and Grace Ethel (Rice) Fulton.

On February 22, 1947 he married Jeane Louise (Viets) Fulton who preceded him in death on September 10, 1998.

A U.S. Navy veteran, J.R. served three years in active duty before transferring to fleet reserve where he was a Data Technician for 16 years, and retired from the Navy in 1981. He was truly a patriot, donating flags to local cemeteries and banks.

J.R. enjoyed tinkering with equipment, and talking on the CB radio. He also liked riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law Joe and Jean Fulton of New Haven, close friends Ken Shirkey and Barbara Johnson both of Mansfield, and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a brother Gerald R. Fulton and a sister Madeline Jean Boren.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 22, 2006 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home from 1-2 pm. A graveside service with military honors conducted by the Irvin Hiskey Post #535 American Legion, Bellville, will follow in Mansfield Cemetery, the Rev. Tj Waters will officiate.
