James R. Ginn, Sr., 72, of Galion died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Crestline Nursing Center.

Born April 8, 1942 in Lewis County, Ky. he was the son of John and Gladys Darlene (Overstreet) Ginn. He married Diana (Riddle) Ginn May 6, 1999 and she survives.

After high school graduation, Jim served with the United States Army in Vietnam. He previously worked as a Police Officer for the City of Galion for nine years and later for Anheuser Bush Brewery in Columbus. He was a member of Galion Lodge 414 Free and Accepted Masons; a 32nd degree member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus; member of Aladdin Temple Shrine, Columbus, Galion Shrine Club and American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 in Galion.

In addition to his wife, Diana, he is also survived by children, James R. (Hannah) Ginn, Jr. of Lexington, William A. Ginn of Galion, Terena (James) Cox of Cleveland, Robin Strine of Ashland and Angela Yarger of Mansfield; step-son Joshawa Reed of Marion; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Sharon Kay (Bill) Francis of Galion; a half-brother, John Toller of Warm Springs, Ga.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roger and Kathy Riddle of Virginia, Ray and Pam Riddle of Galion, Robert and Joanne Riddle of Crestline, Charles and Shirley Riddle of Galion and Marilyn Riddle of Findlay

In addition to his parents he was preceded by sisters, Carol and Lucille.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Rick Cox will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio followed by Military Funeral Honors conducted by the United States Army and Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
