Jim Connolly enjoyed Big Band music and Jitter Bugging with his wife Jo. He had a gift of music and enjoyed sharing it with family and friends. James P. “Jim” Connolly, of Galion passed away Friday afternoon, August 25, 2017 at Galion Hospital at the age of 77.

He was born December 30, 1939 in Galion and was the son of John “Jack” and Cleo (Fink) Connolly. Jim married Joan (Hetzel) Connolly on November 18, 1968 and she preceded him in death after 48 years on May 7, 2017.

He graduated from Galion High School in 1957. Jim retired in 2001 from the Crawford County Common Pleas Court where he was a Bailiff for Judge Nelfred Kimerline. Prior to that, he was a Galion Police Officer and Detective and a Deputy with the Crawford County Sheriff Office. He previously worked for PPG Industries in Crestline and for Kingwood Center in Security after retirement.

Jim enjoyed bowling, fishing and watching sports on television. He was often heard singing his favorite Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett tunes from his pontoon boat on Clearfork Lake while fishing, honing his skills as he performed his favorite songs for hire throughout the area.

He is survived by children Christine (Brian) Bacin of Galion, Deborah (Dan) Lewis of Harpster, Mark (Susan) Halm of Lewis Center and Bethany Connolly of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren Brian (Meghan) Bacin, Jr., Rachel (Shawn) Dickerson, Seth (Lindsey) Lewis, Megan (Kyle) Nagle and Jaime Halm and six great-grandchildren Wil and Chloe Bacin, Logan Dickerson, Ethan and Nathan Lewis, Sloan Nagle and soon to arrive Shelby Jo Nagle.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a sister Jane Connolly.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833.
