James Michael “Mike” Johnson

James Michael “Mike” Johnson, age 59, of Howard passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 25, 2015.
He was born on November 22, 1955 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Harold and Anna (Scarberry) Johnson. Mike was employed by JKB Management where he served as the Physical Plant Supervisor. He enjoyed running and fishing. He was also an avid sports fan and supported the Buckeyes, Browns and especially the Columbus Blue Jackets. Mike’s vast knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems provided him an opportunity to pursue his passion of repairing anything and everything. Mike will forever be remembered as the man to call when something needed fixed. Mike generously shared this gift with many friends and families in their times of need. Most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his family and the best dog in the world “Hank”. A friend and mentor to many; he lived his life as an example to others. His work ethic was unsurpassed and his motto was “Always do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do.”
He is survived by his wife, of over thirty-three years, Jacqueline “Jackie” (Carsey) Johnson; two daughters, Jackie (Andrew) Neighbarger , Sarah Johnson; his son Kyle (Shelly) Johnson; five grandchildren, Brooke and Hannah Johnson, Dawson, Wesley, and Leah Neighbarger; two sisters, Sharon (Scott Cooper) Johnson, Kathy Jeans; his brother Carl (Vicki) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his best friend Jim “Uncle” Coontz.
Friends may call on Friday from 5-8PM at the Apostolic Christian Church (1635 Old Delaware Rd., Mount Vernon). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, at the church, beginning at 11AM with Mr. Wes Humble officiating. The family will observe a private burial at a later date.
