James Lawrence “Larry” Maidens, 91, of Galion, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Larry was born June 22, 1921 in Morrow County and was the son of the late Thomas and Laura McClarren Maidens. He married Neola E. Wheeler Maidens on Jan. 15, 1944, who survives.
He was a graduate of Galion High School in 1939 and Baldwin-Wallace College. Larry served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Galion. He worked in advertising at the former Galion Iron Works/Dresser Industries for over 30 years. Following that he was a clerk/treasurer at the Galion Public Library, where he also served on the Board of Directors for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Brian Trainor of Cape Cod, Mass., Loretta and Dr. Phillip Nasrallah of Akron and Lee Anne and Jeffrey Lowman of Summit, N.J; five grandchildren, Carrie Michael Soful, Bradley Nasrallah, Aram Nasrallah, Brett Julianne Trainor and Erin Michael Blanton and eight great-grandchildren.
No visitation or funeral services will be held. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Iberia Cemetery.
