James L. Welch

James L. Welch, 73, of Galion, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at home unexpectedly.

Born Aug. 31, 1934 in East Liverpool, he was the son of the late James Welch and Hazel Martin Welch. He was preceded in death on May 18, 1999 by his wife, Dorothy J. “Dot” Farance Welch whom he married on June 9, 1961.

He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and was a U. S. Army veteran. He was a member of Elks Lodge 1191, Moose Lodge 303, VFW Post 4329 and American Legion Scarbrough Post 243, all in Galion. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and was a member of Valley View Golf Course. He enjoyed going to Florida and resided in Winterhaven during the winter months. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and belonged to the Mansfield Browns Backers. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loan officer for City Loan in Mansfield and later for Wayne County National Bank in Wooster.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Shannon L. and Stephanie Welch of Rittman; and two grandchildren, Jacob and Spencer Welch.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home.

An Elks Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. during calling hours
