James “Jim” Pierce

BUTLER: James “Jim’” Pierce, 79, of Butler, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2008 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following an extended illness.
James was born on July 2, 1929 in Columbus to Clem and Kathryn (Russell) Pierce and graduated from Columbus South High School.
Following high school, Jim enlisted in the US NAVY serving aboard the USS Shenandoah during the Korean War.
On October 11, 1957 he married Betty (Everman) Pierce and in 1960 they moved from Columbus to the Mansfield area. Jim worked within numerous companies specifically as a Purchasing Agent for optical manufacturers. He was a member of the American Legion Irvin Hiskey Post #535 and Earl McVey Post #16.
Jim was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as the Cincinnati Bengals. He will be remembered for his kind, compassionate, loving heart.
Surviving is his wife Betty Pierce of Butler; three sons Jim Pierce of Lexington, Rusty and Christina Pierce of Brighton, Michigan, and Matthew Pierce of Butler; grandchildren Jennifer, R.J., Rachel, Austin, Jake, Gabe, and Sophia; one great grand daughter Autumn; his brother Clem Pierce of Thousand Oaks, California.
A graveside service with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Irvin Hiskey Post #535 will be held on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 11am in Bellville Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Pierce will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Worthington Township Rescue Squad at the funeral home.
