JEFFERSONVILLE: James Frederick Mellott, 62, of Jeffersonville, died Thursday, September 12, 2013, at his residence. He had been battling cancer since May.
Mr. Mellott was born June 10, 1951, in Mansfield, to Frederick and Eunice Kauffman Mellott. He was a 1969 graduate of Clear Fork High School and attended Otterbein College. He moved to Fayette County in 1985 from Bellville.
Mr. Mellott was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellville and Post #535 of the Sons of the American Legion in Bellville. He organized, and was past president, of the men’s auxiliary of O.E. Hardway Post #3762 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Washington Court House.
Mr. Mellott is survived by his wife, the former Linda L. Coe, whom he married May 12, 2000; two daughters, Tonya Marsh and her husband, David, of Fishers, IN and Angie Mellott of Washington Court House; two step-daughters, Stephanie Stewart and her husband, Danny, of Sabina, Ohio and Stacie Rolfe and her husband, John, of Leesburg; five grandchildren, Ally and Josh Cartwright, MacCayla Fitzpatrick, Tanner Stewart and Caden Stewart.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Hamilton.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 16, 2013, from 1-3 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 3 pm. Pastor Doug Pretorius will officiate and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
