James Edward “Eddie” Carpenter, Jr.

June 11, 1957 ‒ May 02, 2019

Westerville, Ohio

James Edward “Eddie” Carpenter, Jr., age 61, passed away Thursday, May 2nd, 2019 at Edgewood Manor of Westerville. Eddie was born June 11, 1957 in Columbus, son of the late James E. Carpenter, Sr. and Bonnie J. (Reed) Carpenter.

Eddie graduated in 1975 from Gahanna Lincoln High School, where he was very active in sports, attaining All-State ranking in wrestling, and graduating with honors. A natural tinkerer, he loved to build things and work on “fix-it” projects, especially with electronics, and trouble-shooting mechanical issues with cars. Avid at freehand pencil sketching and drawing, he enjoyed coloring pictures that were displayed at the nursing home. Most recently, Eddie enjoyed filming and recording, honing his video production skills.

A huge Buckeyes and Packers fan, family described Eddie as a happy person who was very giving and quick to help others. He was well-liked in his circle of friends, but really knew no stranger- making a point to get to know you and make you his friend.

Eddie is survived by brothers R. Steven (Kathy), Mt. Gilead; Rick, Johnstown; Chris, Gahanna; Mark (Lisa), Pataskala; and sister Debbie Myers, Reynoldsburg. He is also survived by children Matt Carpenter and Teri McCarty, and special friend Dave.

There will be no service. Memorial contributions in Eddie’s memory may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Cincinnati and Columbus, https://donate.epilepsy.com/donate
