James Edward Calpin

James Edward Calpin, age 86, of Ashley, passed away Wednesday evening at his residence. He was born December 25, 1919 in Selby, Yorkshire, England to Lawrence E. and Monica M. (nee Nicholson) Calpin. He served in World War II in the British Army Signal Corps and has been a U.S. resident since 1959, moving to Ashley in 2003. He was a nuclear engineer for Westinghouse, and even after retirement, he enjoyed staying busy. He is survived by his wife Cissie; two daughters Molly (Gene) McCurdy of Ashley and Peggy Hynick of Youngstown; a son Brian Calpin of Edmonton, Alberta; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; three brothers Lawrence, George, and Leo, all of England; and a sister Patricia Bussey of England. He was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Calprin, 6 brothers, and a sister. A Funeral Mass will be said Saturday, January 27th at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Black officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
