James E. Buckingham
March 20, 1940 ‒ June 10, 2005
James E. Buckingham, age 65 of Ostrander died unexpectedly Friday, June 10, 2005 at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Dept. Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was born on March 20, 1940 in Johnstown to the late George Edward Buckingham and Gertrude C. (McKenzie) Buckingham of Delaware. Jim was a lifelong resident of Delaware County, member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a US Air Force Veteran. He had worked for Western Auto Distribution center as a truck driver and was awarded driver of the year several times.
As co-owner of B & S Performance, he built auto racing cars, stock, and classic cars. A true mechanic, he could fix, repair, or build just about anything mechanical from airplanes to automobiles and had recently started restoring a 1949 Ford he has owned since the 1950’s, last driven in 1964. A private person in nature, he loved his Grandchildren and his dogs, especially his beloved Rottweiler, Babe.
In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his former wife: Rosemary (Graham) Buckingham, 3 Sons: Gary, Chris (Stephanie) all of Delaware, and Steve (Donna) Buckingham of Richwood, 5 Grandchildren: Kait, Luke, Justin, Jeremy, and James Edward, Brother: George J. (Peg) Buckingham of Delaware, and Sister-in-law: Mary Ellen Buckingham of Delaware. Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father on August 6, 2002 and a Brother Mark Buckingham on November 21, 2003.
Friends may call Monday 5-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36), Delaware, where services will be held Tuesday 10:00 a.m.with Msgr. James Hanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhill Cemetery near Johnstown with Military Honors.
