Bellville- James D. Jackson, 87, of Bellville passed away Tuesday afternoon May 24, 2011 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.
James was born January 15, 1924 in Saltville, Virginia the son of James Aaron and Maggie Elizabeth (Sandefer) Jackson and graduated from Saltville High School.
While serving in the European Theater during WWII James met Betty K. Kohler. The two were married on August 22, 1945 in Paris, France.
James and Betty moved to the Mansfield area in 1952 where he worked for Borg-Worner. He retired in 1979 after 25 years.
A great cook, James made the best chili. He loved animals especially cats and dogs and enjoyed time on his farm.
James was a member of Newville Baptist church where he previously served as deacon. James’ relationship with Christ was cultivated daily while studying His word.
He is survived by his daughter Anne Meyer-Gibson of Coldwater, sons Dan (Nora) Jackson of Bellville, Gerald Jackson of Sparks, Nevada and Michael (Sylvia) Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
The Jackson family selected compassionate cremation services through the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
