James Craft, 86, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 in his Mansfield home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 17, 1932 in Livermore, PA to parents Claude Leroy & Anna Elizabeth (Penrod) Craft. He was drafted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On January 17, 1956 he married Shirley Muir. Jim worked as a heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Union where he was a member for 50 years.

He was a member of Community Bible Church in Mansfield where Jim was an usher and worked with their bus ministry. He also attended Mansfield Baptist Temple and was a member of the Blue Wave Technical Rescue.

He enjoyed travelling and had been to 43 of the 48 continental United States. Jim collected model horses. But above all, Jim was a devoted father and grandfather who always put his kids first and cherished spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Shirley Craft of Mansfield; children Tina (Gary) Couch, Ed (Pam) Craft, Peggy Craft, Tom (Shelli) Craft, David Craft (Tina Adams), and Bonnie (Rodney) Mailloux; grandchildren Melanie, Tony, Justin, Holly, James, Haley, Leslie, Stanley, Tyler, and Darren; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Jerry “Coon” Barnett; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his siblings Elnora, Lucy, Etta, Hazel, Peggy, Tom “Roy”, and Bill; great-granddaughter Allyson; parents-in-law Loy & Nora Muir; and brother-in-law Leslie (Catherine) Muir.

His family will receive friends 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a memorial service will begin at 7pm led by Pastor Glenn Phillips and military honors will be performed by American Legion Post #535 of Bellville. Contributions in his memory to Hospice of North Central Ohio may be made at the funeral home.
