James A. Mason, age 86, of Fredericktown passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Brookdale Mount Vernon.

He was born on August 10, 1930 in Knox County to the late Clyde and Thelma (Nethers) Mason. Jim was a Union Sprinkler Fitter for over 60 years and retired from Capital Fire Protection after 28 years of service. He loved cars and was a great mechanic. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Jim was a veteran serving in the United States Navy.

He is survived by his children, Doug (Becky) Mason of Fredericktown, Kim (Paul) Peppers of Fredericktown, Janet (Norm Heuppelsheuser) Mason of Marysville, Scott Mason of Fredericktown; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Mason.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 4-6PM at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. The family will observe a private graveside service in Union Grove Cemetery.
