James A. “Jim” Sharp

BELLVILLE: I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the Lord. (Psalm 104:33&34) Jim Sharp sang a song; a song of redemption, glory, and love. Filled with Christ’s spirit, Jim knew and had the hope of eternal life. That was how he lived, that was how he sang.
Now singing a beautiful melody with the Lord, James A. “Jim” Sharp passed away Wednesday evening, April 30, 2014 in Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital’s emergency department following an apparent heart attack. He was 83.
The son of Charles J. and Alice A. (Lugenbuhl) Sharp, Jim was born in Allen County on March 4, 1931. After graduating from Norwalk High School, Jim married Beverly Reed whom he first met in church camp.
A fuel distributor, Jim worked for Sohio and BP for 40 years.
He was a faithful member of the Ankneytown Grace Brethren Church where he served as song leader for 52 years. Jim was a member of the Gideon’s International.
He loved mowing lawns especially on his favorite brand of mower, John Deere. Just about anything and everything John Deere, Jim collected. Quite the story teller, Jim loved to talk and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beverly Sharp of Bellville; daughter Brenda (Kevin) Sheasby of Ashland, sons Mike (Beth) Sharp of Louisville, Mark (Kelly) Sharp of Warsaw, Indiana, and Greg (Becky) Sharp of Bellville; grandchildren Cristie, Ben, Mandy, A.J., Sam, Nathan, Nik, Beth, Jim, Megan, Cassy, Jeremy, Jordan, Jesse, Reneé, Brad, Jason, Eliah, Ryan; 10 great grandchildren; extended family Sue (Ron) Schemmer of Pensacola, Florida.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son Tom Sharp and sister Eda Sharp.
The family will receive friends, Sunday May 4, 2014 from 2-6pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11am at the Ankneytown Grace Brethren Church, 20601 Old Mansfield Road, Bellville. Pastor Gary Kochheiser will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
