Jacqueline H. “Jackie” Lehr, age 82, of Fairway Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Autumn Health Care in Mount Vernon. She was born on August 15, 1931 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late John and Geraldine (Fiedler) Henning. Jacqueline graduated in 1949 from Strong Vincent High School and later received her Nursing Degree from Jamestown Community College in New York. She retired in 1994 serving as a registered nurse for the State of Ohio Department of Human Services. Jacqueline was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon where she was active with the Thursday Bible study.
Jacqueline was an avid reader and a gifted seamstress and quilter. She enjoyed painting with watercolors and oils and loved camping with her family and friends. Playing cards was a hobby of Jacqueline’s, but gardening was her favorite pastime.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, David Lehr, two daughters, Susan Lehr of Mansfield and Beverly Lehr of Columbus, a grandson, Jason Cooper of Columbus, a sister, Beverly (Thomas C.) Solvedt of Fairview, Pennsylvania, sister-in-law, Laura Henning of Erie, Pennsylvania, nieces and nephews, John Henning, Kimberly Faulkner, Philip Henning, Thomas Solvedt and Terry Solvedt, numerous great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Elizabeth Lehr and a brother, Kenneth Henning.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 starting at 6 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 102 N. Gay Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. Rev. Jonathan Fettig will be officiating. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Erie Pennsylvania. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Jacqueline Hope Lehr.
