Jacob Morganstein, 91, of Galion, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008 at Village Care Center in Galion, after an extended illness.

Born Apr. 30, 1917 in Mansfield, he was the son of the late Henry Morganstein and Christine Fetter Morganstein. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen J. Young Morganstein whom he married on June 29, 1943 with Chaplain, Captain Harry A. Day of the U.S. Army officiating.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and enjoyed fishing, metal detecting and his Pekinese Puppy Pandora. He worked as an iron sand molder by trade and retired from the American Aluminum Casting Company in Bucyrus in 2000.

Surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Myra E. and Randolph Schaubs of Venice, Fla. And their puppy Meki; one grandson and his wife, Cory and Nicole Schaubs of Alpharetta, Ga. And their puppy Kaya; two brothers, Harry Young and Clarence W. Young both of Galion and several nieces and nephews in the Mansfield area.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Julia Gabor, Christine Seeburger, Daisy Young and Betty Gerrell; four brothers, Henry, David, Joseph and John Morganstein and two brothers-in-law, Gene D. and Robert L. Young.

A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery at 2 p.m. Thursday Aug. 7, 2008 with Pastor Don Trigg officiating.
