Jackie “Snookie” Mullins

September 04, 1951 ‒ June 04, 2020

Mansfield, Ohio

Jackie Jaritt “Snookie” Mullins, age 68, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020, in his Mansfield home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 4, 1951, in Rush, Kentucky one of eight children to parents Ronald & Helen (Watson) Mullins. In the 70s, his sister, Peggy, set him up on a date with her best friend—a beautiful young lady named Joan Webb—and the pair hit it off right away and were married on May 21, 1975. He was a dedicated and loving husband for 45 years.

Snook worked as a car mechanic and drove nine years for Richland County Transit. He loved doing bodywork on hot rods, and other mechanic work including fast cars, motorcycles, pretty much anything with an engine. He passed on his love of motors to his son and grandkids and loved racing around the front yard in 4-wheelers with his grandbabies and watch them play in the yard.

Snook was the patriarch of the Mullins family and he bestowed nicknames on each family member. The more Snook teased you, the more he liked you! He was a good man who was as honest and strong as he was goofy. He ALWAYS put his family first.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Joan Mullins of Mansfield; his son Ray “Snookie” Mullins Jr. & daughter-in-law Stephanie Mullins of Mansfield; daughter Faith “Cookie” Doyon; grandchildren Jerrett Mullins, Kayla Sjostedt, Brooklen Wallace, Kendyll Mullins, Natalie Mullins, “Lil Snookie” Ray Mullins, Jaxston Doyon, and Niklaus Dye; five great-grandbabies; his brother James Mullins; sisters Cheri Pat McGlone, Frances Gee, Lena Perry, Ella-Mae Hall, and Peggy Murphy; several nieces and nephew.

Snook was preceded in death by his mother Helen Kennedy; brother Ronnie “Frankie” Mullins; nieces Tammy Stevenson and Tina French; great-niece Brooklyn Eshewshade; and nephews Jimmy “Blue” Mullins and Kevin Mullins.

Although no public service will be held in Snook’s memory, his family hopes you will remember him in your own special way. The family held a Celebration of Life service at their home and celebrated all their wonderful memories of their loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him.
