Jack Lee May Jr., age 59, of Mount Vernon lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Knox Community Hospital.

He was born on October 25, 1958 in Mount Vernon to Jack and Joy (Parrish) May Sr.  Jack was employed at the Carpenter’s Union, the Painter’s and Allied Trades Union, and also for Shellman Construction.  He was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4027.  Jack enjoyed the time he spent with his friends, working on cars and fishing, but loved the time he spent with his family.

Jack  is survived by his wife Becky (Durst) May; his son Jacob May; five daughters, Shanea (Wayne) Mantel, Jaqulyin (Andy Cotter) May, Alisha (Andy Marsell) Sapp, Samantha Zarley, Stephanie Carter; nine grandchildren; his brother Jonny (Kimmy Stitt) May; his two sisters, Tina May and Tracey (John) Smith; and his canine companion Sadie.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother Joy (Parrish) May.

Friends may call on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 12-2PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home.  A service will follow beginning at 2PM with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating.  Burial will take place in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family and left at the funeral home.
