Jack Dempsey Johnson, age 81, of Marengo, passed away late Friday evening, November 21, 2008 at Bennington Glen in Marengo.

Jack was born May 28, 1927 in Taplin, W.V., the son of the late Wayne C. and Annie Hodges Johnson.

Jack served his country during World War II as a Postal Carrier in France, delivering mail to the troops who were serving there. Jack also worked as a Plumber for 45 years.

Jack is survived by his wife, Beverly; his children: Dena Delendo of Delaware, Mary Ann Freeman of Sunbury, Debbie Watts of Sunbury, Jack Danny Johnson of Delaware, Wayne Johnson of Westerville, and Brian Wilson of Mt. Gilead. Jack is also survived by his good friend Laura Shell, who looked after his healthcare needs for several years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Johnny and Donald; and three sisters: Pearl, Violet, and Mildred.

In the observance of Jack’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
