Jack Armes, 81, of Garrison, Ky., formerly of Galion and Crestline, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth after an extended illness.
Born Mar. 21, 1926 in Miami Co., W. Va., he was the son of the late Jounce Armes and Effie Collie Armes.
He worked as a coal miner in West Virginia for 18 years until he moved to Galion. While in Galion, he worked at the former Perfection-Cobey Co., where he was a truck driver until his retirement. Three years ago, he and his wife moved to Garrison, Ky. to be closer to his family. He was an avid fisherman.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Helen McCloud Armes; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Millie Armes of LaGrange, Ga. and Thomas and Terilla Armes of Garrison, Ky.; two daughters, Sharon Miller of Galion and Norma Woods of Lake City, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and one sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and James Puffenbarger of Chardon.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Hazel Armes; two brothers, Charles and Gaylord Armes and one sister, Goldie Adkins.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford County Memory Gardens.
