Irene Summers, 84, of Crestline went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the home of her daughter.
Born July 2, 1930 in Harlan, KY, she was the daughter of Lincoln and Marie (Alford) Bays. She married Willie N. Summers on June 12, 1948 and he preceded her on February 2, 1998.
Irene attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Crestline and was formerly a cook at the Crestline YMCA. She enjoyed crocheting and never passed up a garage or yard sale. Irene was a very devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and loved the Lord and spending time with her family.
She is survived by children Willie “Bill” (Jamie) Summers Jr. of Fostoria, Roger (Pat) Summers of Galion, Debbie (Mark) Bland of Crestline, Connie (Rick) Church of Galion, Pam (Rick) Briner of Galion and Jerry (Julie) Bays of Marion; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; brother Eugene Bays of Harlan, KY and a sister Betty (Daris) Meade of St. Paul, VA.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by daughter Artie Howard; two brothers and a sister.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel in Galion. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church Of God Of Prophecy, 300 East Bucyrus Street, Crestline with Pastor Gary Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
