Irene Marie (Bower) Cadden, age 99, passed away at Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University on February 18, 2018.  She had been a resident at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky, Ohio for the past twelve years.

Irene was born in Ross County, Ohio to the late Roger and Helen (Dearth) Bower. She graduated from Centralia High School as valedictorian of the class of 1935 and then attended Capital University in Columbus.

On October 2, 1940 she married Robert Cadden, her high school sweetheart.  They celebrated 69 years of married life before Robert’s death in 2010.  She was predeceased also by her sister, Ina Louise Crago and foster brother, Charles Vetter, Jr.

Irene is survived by two daughters, Sharon Anne (Charles) Moore of Marion, Ohio and Judith Irene Hutt who resides in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.  Her grandchildren include Cheryl Lynn (Duane) Roller, Tricia (Scott) Wiemers, Robert (Donna) Moore and Christopher (Terri) Moore. There are six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She had a great love for her family and friends.

Her working career began at Elberfelds in Chillicothe, followed by positions at the Ohio License Bureau, MedoPure Dairy and Chillicothe Schools Board of Education.  She retired in 1978 from Chesapeake National Bank in Baltimore, Maryland.

Graveside Catholic rites will be held at St. Margaret’s Cemetery in Chillicothe, Ohio on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11 am with Father William Hahn presiding.
